Back Behind the Wheel Again!

Back behind the wheel again! I’m making some test tiles. Test tiles are pieces  of clay used to test how a glaze will look on a certain clay body after it’s fired.

I'm throwing open bottom rings on my nice new blue bat adding some decoration on the side for testing glazes.
First, I throw an open bottom ring then add some decoration on the side.

When the ring dries to the point where it can be handled without deformation, I use my wire tool to cut out a small “tile”.

The test tiles will be able to stand upright in the kiln and hang nicely on the wall after they are glazed.

The next step will be to bisque fire the tiles, glaze the tiles and fire them again. Hopefully by the end of the month I’ll have something that looks like THIS. (But not as many!)
