On Social Media

Blog or Instagram?

January and February bring a welcoming change of pace – a respite from the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Since the holidays, I have not posted much at all here or on instagram.

At times, I feel social media overwhelming and loud.

Do you?

Social media is everywhere seemingly vying for our constant attention.

By mid-December, I burned out.

I couldn’t keep up nor did I want to.

From a social media perspective, it may have looked as if nothing was going on.

Believe me, a lot was going on! I had presents to wrap, cookies to bake, Christmas cards to send (yes, I send out Christmas Cards!), orders to ship and more! After all, it was the holidays!!!

I just could not bring myself to blog or post on instagram.

Which brings me to something I’ve been thinking about lately:  Blogging vs Instagram.

Which do you prefer and why?

I like blogging.

Blogging is like sitting with a good friend for hours with a cup of coffee.

Blogging seems more in-depth, personal and one-on-one.

I do enjoy instagram, too. It is a quick alternative to blogging for insta-updates.

Instagram seems to be like bumping into a friend at the grocery store when you only a few moments to catch up.

Doing both, blogging and IGing, this holiday season proved to be an immense task.

So much so, I burned out mid-December.

How many of you bloggers post on instagram too?

How do you balance blogging vs instagram?

Life is all about balance. You don’t always need to be getting stuff done. Sometimes it is perfectly okay, and absolutely necessary, to shut down, kick back and do nothing. ~Lori Deshene
