About

My interest in pottery began when our family signed up for a ceramics class at our local art museum in 2004.  My hands have been in the mud ever since!

I throw pots on our back porch through the warmer months which is usually May through October around here.  My studio is open to all the elements and whims of Mother Nature.

Having my studio on the back porch worked out splendidly when the kids were young. I could throw pots, take photographs, watch the kids play and explore the great outdoors; hence, the name Back Porch Studio.

Fast forward to today where I am now a Grandma! I continue to throw things on my Back Porch Studio all the while watching the grands explore the great outdoors in our big back yard!

But wait! There’s more!

I was a stay-at-home homeschooling mom. BEST JOB EVER! We homeschooled our kids all the way through high school.  I am pleased to say our kids have had successful college careers earning degrees ranging from Associate degrees to PhDs.   So, yes, one can homeschool through high school! And, all blissfully employed.

In addition to pottery, I also enjoy photography. I started shooting on a Canon AE-1  and never looked back. As an award winning (okay, 3rd place and an honorable mention.) published photographer, the learning never ends nor the bounty of subjects to photograph.

Everything you see in my shop is current inventory.  During the summer, I build up my pottery inventory in anticipation of the holiday shopping season.
