IMG_7485-bw-webIMG_2203-webUPDATE Summer 2014:  I am happy to announce I am a full time grandma and part time potter!  I now have a little helper who keeps me company on the back porch.

My interest in pottery began when our family signed up for a ceramics class at our local art museum in 2004.  My hands have been in the mud ever since then!IMG_1136bwcropfb

I am also a photographer striving to be better. As an award winning (okay, 3rd place and an honorable mention.) and published photographer, the learning never ends nor the bounty of subjects to photograph.

I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for over twenty years (best job ever!).  We homeschooled our kids all the way through high school.  I am please to say both have had a successful college career earning degrees: Associate degrees to PhD.  So, yes, one can homeschool through high school! 😉

I’ve always enjoyed making all sorts of things; working with my hands.  I’ve dabbled in wood working, cross stitching, knitting, quilting, drawing and, of course, gardening.  Currently my passions are pottery, gardening and taking pictures of our grandson.

I throw pots on our back porch through the warmer months.  This worked out splendidly when the kids were younger. I could throw pots, take photographs and watch the kids play outside; hence, the name Back Porch Studio.

Everything you see in my shop is current inventory.  During the summer, I build up my pottery inventory in anticipation of the holiday shopping season.

You will notice earlier blog titles with a 2008 date.  I opened my shop on Etsy in 2008 intending to sell my pottery and photography. Then life happened and pottery, photography and blogging had to take a back seat. Four years later . . . in addition to starting a new blog I’ve reopened my shop on Etsy!
