It must be a New Year!
Our grocery store was out of celery yesterday! 😄
Can you believe I had to go on a hunt for celery?!
Celery is a staple at our house. I use it a lot in casseroles, soups, smoothies (sometimes), salads and as a snack.
I went to a second store, just for celery, and found this little bunch among five other sad little bunches.

Speaking of celery . . .
- celery is an underrated veggie (I like celery more than cucumbers).
- celery has a satisfying crunch even though it is mostly made of water
- celery has a handy groove for holding anything spreadable
- celery’s flavor is mildly bitter, mildly sweet, earthy, grassy (similar to parsley)
- celery is a versatile veggie for building flavor in sauces, soups and casseroles
- celery adds delicate flavor and crunch to salads and stir-fries
- celery is packed with fiber
- celery is rich in phytochemicals which are chemicals produced by plants to protect themselves from pets and environmental stress and act as antioxidants which are good for us humans
- However, celery is know to be one of the most allergenic of vegetables, usually appears in people allergic to birch and certain other pollens
So, I found my celery!
Celery-brate! 🥳
All is right with the world now!
You’re funny, lol.
I’m not a big celery fan but use it in soups, mostly. I discovered I can use celery seeds in its place if we’re out of celery, but we’re not out of celery, so…

I use celery seed a lot too. Similar in taste to a celery stalk so celery seed is a good substitute.
. . . . running off to check on how much celery seed we have . . . 😆

I love celery too! Especially if it’s got peanut butter in that groove…
