So This Happened

Woke up Sunday morning, opened the fridge for the pitcher of water and noticed the water was not cold.

Huh. Odd. Maybe dear husband didn’t close the fridge door completely last night before he went to bed, I thought.

It has happened before.

As the day progressed, we noticed the temperature in the fridge. 😳

Dear husband consulted the fridge manual.

Adjusted a few things.

Checked a few things.

Eventually, unplugged it, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in.

By that time, our groceries were ready for pick up.

And off we went.

After we picked up our groceries, we noticed the car was not cooling.

Didn’t think too much of it because it was actually a nice cool Sunday morning and opted to travel with the windows open.

By the time we returned home later after running a few more errands, we learned that air conditioner in the car was not working and that the fridge had not cooled.

Not only were the things inside the fridge, starting to sweat and ice cream beginning to melt, we had groceries that needed to be refrigerated including a lot of meat that we bought on sale!

There was no time to waste.

Dear husband drove into town for bags of ice.

I fetched coolers from the shed.

We cleared the fridge into the coolers with store bought ice then we turned our attention to all the meat that needed divided, packaged and put into the chest freezer in the garage.

By this time it was late afternoon when dear husband called an appliance repair technician and an auto mechanic.

The auto mechanic could see our car on Monday.

The appliance repair technician, on the other hand, couldn’t schedule an appointment until Wednesday! 😳

“We’re on thin ice cream.”

“I guess this is how the cavemen lived: eating everything immediately.”

“My refrigerator made a noise like a dying banshee, and now it has the same cooling capacity as a warm breeze.”

“Let’s face it, there is never a convenient time for your fridge to break down, but summer has to be the worst time…”

“1970’s Refrigerator: I will out live you and everyone you love. I am eternal. I am time itself.”

At least I got our garden planted this weekend!

    1. Your are correct Manu. We have some things sitting out in the garage such as pickles and vinegars and some fruits.

      Fridge temperature today: 68° F

      Garage temperature today: 60° F

      Help won’t arrive until Wednesday between 8 am – 5 pm. 😩
