At A Snail’s Pace

I wish I could say summer 2016 is going at a snail’s pace but it is not.

It is hard for me to believe the end of July is upon us.

Next thing you know it will be Christmas!

That said, a lot has been happening in and around the back porch studio:

Our grandson made this piece by pressing pine needles and clover into clay. It has been bisque fired and is now ready for the final glaze firing where I will simply add an iron oxide wash which will accentuate the details. Can’t wait to see the final result!

These are my newest pieces waiting to be glazed and fired: organically shaped bowls made from a slab of clay slumped over a plaster mold. I love the way these bowls nest together.  Anxious to see how they look glazed!
More pet bowls. One of my best sellers. This bunch will be blue and cream like these.
One of my best sellers: Pet bowls.  Each of these pet bowls above will be embellished with a single paw in the center.  The clear glaze on inside  will accentuates the natural stoneware and the unique speckled effect from the minerals in the clay. The blue glaze will showcase an array of beautiful blues giving the bowl an earthy rustic look similar to these.

The cucumbers, zucchini and yellow summer squash have taken over the back forty. Thank goodness we downsized this year. We only have ONE plant each and we can barely keep up!
We are having a terrific blackberry season!

Enough blackberries for a PIE!
While life is certainly keeping us busy as bees, at the end of the day we can put our feet up and watch the clouds!
While life is certainly keeping us busy as bees, at the end of the day we can watch the clouds go by and enjoy a snail’s pace for a few moments.
