August Notes

I’ve been behind the camera for a few weeks photographing new pottery I made over the summer and behind the computer writing item descriptions.

The scene of Elaine Benes writing for the J. Peterman Catalog comes to mind.

The Urban Sombrero, Seinfeld,
Season 8 Episode 1

“It combines the spirit of old Mexico with a little big city panache.”~Elaine Benes

Meanwhile in the garden. . .

The squirrels continue to enjoy the fruits of my labor based on the trail of half eaten green tomato carcasses scattered throughout the garden and yard.

I read that cayenne pepper sprinkled in the garden will deter pesky critters from taking a bite.

“One of the easiest natural methods is to apply hot pepper to your plants. The capsaicin (the “heat” in the pepper) is the deterrent, both in smell and taste. Sprinkle the flakes around the soil of plants that need to be protected, including potted plants. You can also sprinkle cayenne pepper directly on plant leaves.” ~Easy Tricks To Squirrel-Proof Your Garden

I now have a salsa garden! 😆

If I see one squirrel in a J. Peterman Urban Sombrero, I’m done with gardening for the year!

“This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realize that it is August: the summer’s last stand.”

  1. I really enjoy reading your blog posts and the reference to Elaine made me laugh – it’s perfect and I can see you coming up with creative captions for your works of art.
