The Man Sale

We had a man sale last weekend.

A man sale is a term for a garage sale that features tools and hardware rather than baby items and home decor.

Many of the items where a treasure trove of tools my husband inherited including Gil-Bilt woodworking tools such as a band saw, tilting arbor table saw, and a belt sander which were my father-in-law’s.

Gil-Bilt woodworking kits and plans were made available to hobbyists by Gilliom Manufacturing Inc. in the 1940’s through the late 20th century. Woodworking enthusiasts could build their own affordable heavy-duty woodworking power tools.

Of course, all these inherited tools take up space—space we just don’t have, which is why we decided to have a garage sale advertised as a ‘Man Sale’.

Lot’s of stuff except my electric kiln. I quickly placed a “Not for sale” sign on it after our first customer excitedly exclaimed, “Oh, is that a kiln?!?” 😬

In between all the tools, we set out stuff such as a mini-trampoline, stroller, Hot Wheels garage (Hot Wheels are still a thing!), several small kitchen appliances, and we even had a bin of “free” stuff!

Though we sold a lot of tools, we still have a lot of that didn’t sell.

So, the sorting and compiling of tools and stuff continue this week as we try to find new homes for the unsold items rather than taking up space in a landfill somewhere.

The problem isn’t you’re not organized, the problem is you’re dealing with too much.

It doesn’t have to be new to be awesome!

Life is like a yard sale. You never know what you’re going to get.

Some of the best things are old, loved and rescued . . .
