I spent most of September glazing and firing the pottery I made on my back porch over the summer.
Overall, three kiln loads of pottery: mugs, cups, bowls, pet bowls and slow feeders.

This month, I’ve been photographing each piece for my Etsy shop and writing item descriptions and calculating prices.
Meanwhile, the weather has been absolutely beautiful which allowed me to replace old crumbling stepping stones with new pavers in the front yard between the garden bed and driveway. (Old crumbing stepping stones pictured on the left. New pavers pictured on the right.)
This job entailed digging up quite a few plants, combatting an huge ant colony, hauling six loads of dirt out of the front garden bed to the back garden beds to replenish dirt that washed away this spring and then leveling the area with tons of sand and, finally, placing the heavy cumbersome pavers into their new spot along the driveway (pictured on the right).
Our garden has slowed down due to the shorter days and cooler temperatures.
Word has it we are to have our first frost next week.
I harvested the last of our tomatoes for the year.

Squirrel continues to scurry about gathering nuts and seeds and stopping by the watering hole for a long drink.
Squirrel left us a little gift at our back door.
It is a Chinese chestnut.
I’m not sure if Squirrel wants us to eat it, plant it, or stow it away.
It’s the thought that counts!

Listen! the wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!
