It was horridly humid and buggy on my back porch over the past several weeks.
I took refuge indoors and continued to work with clay.
While indoors, I made shallow bowls/dishes from slabs of clay draped over a plaster mold.
A clay slab is a portion of clay that has been flattened into a sheet. Clay slabs are most often made by using a rolling pin or a slab roller. Usually, the slab will have an even thickness throughout, and it can be used for hand-building pottery, known as slab pottery. From ThePotteryWheel.com
I used to make slabs of clay by using a rolling pin 🥴 until I discovered a portable table top slab roller on Etsy made by Sallie and her husband at Pottery By Saleek.
Good bye rolling pin! 😉
These shallow bowls/dishes end up making a good all-around dish for the kitchen.
My handmade dishes have even been featured in a couple of online food blogs! 😍
I wasn’t planning on make a lot of these shallow dishes this summer but Mother Nature thought otherwise. 😆
Now, I have quite a few drying slowly because if they dry too fast, the dishes warp!
Meanwhile, I am back behind my wheel on my pack porch because the humidity is much more tolerable and the light breeze helps keep the bugs way.
I learned something new today! You take such beautiful pictures, too. 🙂

I love these bowls, Pauline!
I also like the picture of Buzz Lightyear in the humidity. 😀

The aqua color inside those bowls is the most gorgeous color! And what a standout background it provides for anything on the warm side of the spectrum. Well done, Pauline!
