Because . . .Squirrel!

Well, the cayenne pepper did NOT discourage the squirrel from eating every single tomato.
Except THIS one.

Now, the squirrel is after the zucchini 😳

For me, it’s the chipmunks. I’ve reached the point of surrender. They only leave the tiniest tomatoes.

Here it’s deer. My husband has been shooting at them with a bb gun to chase them away, but he may be getting ready to switch up to a shotgun. Me, I’m thinking, if you can’t have homegrown vegetables, maybe a freezer full of venison might be nice.🤔 😋
Meanwhile, we asked the expert at the nursery what kind of plant/shrub/flowers we could plant that the deer won’t eat? His answer was basically “nuthin’.”

Ah, yes. The deer! We have lived in places where the deer ate everything~even the shrubs!

They’ve even attacked our young trees. Marty has wrapped them in chicken wire, but anything that comes above or through it is eaten, as high as they can reach. As he put it, our trees are all “bonzaied” (sp?) – with most of the foliage and blooms above 5 feet off the ground.

I even planted “extra” tomato plants this year thinking the squirrels certainly couldn’t eat ALL of them! LOL.
Well, they did leave one!

I feel your pain. Our cucumber crop was a non event, and the tomatoes aren’t ripe yet, except those which are littered across the fence posts with clear bite marks in them. 🙃

Veggie gardening is beginning to be too much work for very little yield. This year planted “extra” thinking there would be enough for all! 😂. I really need to rethink this! LOL

I think I will check out our local farmer’s market next year.

Oh no. I was really hoping that the cayenne would work.

I was hopeful too. But all I got was a teeny weeny tomato and a very spicy smelling garden ! 😄

We had to worry about the deer in our garden.
